I think something’s wrong with my Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver. I was reading the Onkyo TX-NR709 Review and it sounds like this receiver should be able to fill a pretty large room with sound. I was watching the movie “Superman” and it seemed like the receiver wasn’t able to increase the volume very much. It almost sounded like someone had a bunch of pillows muffling the sound. I have never had this problem before with a receiver or with a surround sound system. I am getting concerned because I just purchased this receiver a few weeks ago. It bothers me that I might already be having a problem with it. The good news is that I have 30 days to return it so if there really is something wrong than I’m covered.
I think I will probably call my friend up to come over and take a look at my TX-NR709. He is an audiophile who is very good at troubleshooting problems with home theater systems. My friend has had a stereo system ever since he was five years old. His dad was really into listening to music so they had a really nice stereo system for his family. His dad would always show him how to hook up speakers to a receiver and do all sorts of cool things. I think his dad even showed him how to build his own speakers.
I remember at one point he had designed and built his own subwoofer. I was completely impressed by how good it sounded. He had me come over and listen to some music one time and I was telling him how impressed I was with how loud the bass was. That’s when he told me that the bass was coming from his subwoofer that he had built. I was shocked when he told me that. I really hope there’s nothing wrong with my Onkyo TX-NR709 so I have to take it back.
